This is a question that seems to be answered easily with a yes by a large number of drivers. It is very frustrating and can cause a large amount of problems for the individuals that follow the laws of their state and carry at least the minimum coverage that they are required to carry. Because there are so many individuals that choose to continue driving while they have no car insurance, agents provide their customers with the option of also adding uninsured motorists insurance to their policies.

There are several different reasons why a motorist might choose to drive their vehicles without being protected by any type of coverage. There are even times when it is simply an innocent mistake where the individual may not even realize that they are driving with expired car insurance. Although it is each driver's responsibility to continuously maintain car insurance, this is a common mistake that occurs more than you might think.

With increasing rates that continuously climb higher, there are several people who are unable to afford the high prices of car insurance premiums. Even though it is mandatory in most all states to have the automobiles insured, there are always going to be those that go against the law by driving uninsured. These individuals may not realize it, but if they were to ever decide to purchase car insurance, they may have a hard time in finding an agent that will agree to insure them. If a person has not had coverage in many years, they are more likely to run into this type of situation.

Each state is different on the penalties that they choose to enforce. Uninsured driving can very quickly land you with some very stiff penalties. In some areas, it can mean a fine that is anywhere from hundreds to even thousands of dollars. Some states are even stricter than that and you just might find yourself in jail and your car impounded. These penalties however, are not as serious as other disasters that can happen. If you choose to not carry car insurance, and you are involved in a wreck that results in a victim that suffers from serious injury, there is an endless amount of expensive bills you will be responsible for. This of course is aside from the fact that you will probably end up in court from a lawsuit that was filed against you.
